ONCE UPON A TIME EVERY "ITALIANO" WANTED TO BE "AMERICANO"...WE STILL DO TODAY!

After WWII, Italians loved everything American...whiskey, cigarettes, rock&roll etc.  Neapolitan musician  Renato Carosone wrote this beautiful song to celebrate those times.  My daughter Sayaka Alessandra  http://www.sayakaalessandraofficial.com/  sang  "Tu Vuò Fà l'Americano"  on Sicilian television channel VideoSicilia in Alcamo.  Check out that sexy "Godfather" dancing with her:)

Times haven't changed.  We still love anything that's American.  Here my daughter and I are  having lunch at McDonald's in Bologna, Italy.   Even our chihuahua Rocky loves McDonald's!

  4. My favorite cuisine on the planet is Italian, so I shudder to think you would rather have McDonalds - I guess no one likes steak for every meal either and the grass is always greener across the fence.

  11. I didn't know this history of Italy. I enjoyed reading about it and hearing the song sung by your daughter. Only one I've heard sing this is Sophia Lauren in her famous movie. The godfather was fun.

  32. Interesting. I never wanted to be an American, and I never eat in McDonalds (I am a vegetarian Italian :-). I guess it really depends on where you come from, the 'American' thing is really big among the 'TV watching masses' while I am more the 'intellectual-artstic-green-lefty" type, at a long stretch I could fit into the liberal Californian-Berkley bunch, or leave with the Polynesians in Hawaii, but that it!
