WORKING AS A VOLUNTEER FOR THE WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME

My daughter Sayaka Alessandra www.sayakaalessandraofficial.com has a passion for singing.  Through her talent she has become a web celebrity, known and admired by thousands of fans around the world.  However, she is also very concerned about needy people and never misses an opportunity to help. She has performed in Sicily for many charity concerts, as well as in hospitals and churches.  In addition to that, she set aside one day a week to volunteer for the Onlus Association in Trapani, Sicily. She helped  pack clothes, toys and accessories  which would then be sent to needy children in Madagascar.

For the last 9 months Sayaka Alessandra has been working as a full-time Volunteer for the World Food Programme of the United Nations. WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian organization feeding the hungry poor.

She has already donated nearly 1,500 hours of her working time to WFP. Perfectly bilingual (English/Italian with working knowledge of French) among other things, she  worked with the computerized resource management system. She drafted and prepared    various documents, reports, minutes of meetings, presentation materials and day to day correspondence in English and Italian (also making editorial corrections/changes in English documents/draft correspondence  prepared by others).  During the absence on official duty/holiday of all the regular staff from her unit, she covered the office.

It has been a great pleasure and privilege for her to be able to assist directly or indirectly needy people. Her knowledge of Communication (she has a BA in Media and Communication) together with past working experience particularly as presenter on Sky Italia TV, and as an intern in Montecitorio (the Italian Parliament), made it possible for her to contribute greatly  to such an important international organization  as WFP.

Many  organizations do not offer any reward or appreciation to volunteers. Motivated by a sense of duty and  responsibility to society,  Sayaka  is  offering her skills and time with enthusiasm and dedication,  in the true spirit of volunteership. Receiving in return an inner satisfaction and joy that no money or reward can give.  As Angelina Abril, a long time fan from the Philippines says "I wake up every morning and listen to Sayaka-s "The Glory of Love", she brings a smile to my face".  That summarizes Sayaka-s mission:  to make people smile. Nothing makes her happier.

  5. Francesca, It's terrific that your daughter is so giving...so involved with the WFP. We're focused on needs here in the USA, specifically in Eastern Tennessee. Given the economy, lots of folks are in need and everyone should do what they can to help feed those who need help wherever they are in the world. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
