THE ALMOST PRINCE CHARMING / IL PRINCIPE QUASI AZZURRO

Trapani is not exactly a vibrant and bustling town, but during Carnival it livens up. There are costume parties everywhere...Church groups, parish recreation centers, trattorie, hotels, parks and  piazzas. Here are some pictures of  a typical Festa di Carnevale. It took place yesterday at the Giardino Eden,  the most popular banquet hall in town.

First, though, I would like to introduce our Sicilian  Prince "Almost" Charming:)  Carmelo is a children's party animator for the Don Bosco Salesian recreation center.   The caption on his costume reads  PRINCIPE QUASI AZZURRO ( Prince "Almost" Charming). I thought it was so funny. It's nice to see a guy with a sense of humor, and who doesn't mind making  fun of himself.

The famous CHIACCHIERE  (the word can also mean "gossip"...the favorite Sicilian pastime:)

  1. Francesca, Looks like a lot of fun! The chiacchiere really look good too! Kids...and many adults really like to play dress up and Carnival is a perfect excuse to live it up! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

  3. It does look like the children and their chaperones are having a lot of fun. I also love someone with a good sense of humour like Mr. Almost Prince Charming. How funny!
